FRED J. DESMARAIS

Fred is an experienced trial lawyer in New Hampshire where he has tried cases for over 30 years. He has brought to verdict in excess of a hundred cases, including the defense of product liability and complex civil trials involving multi-million dollar claims. He represents numerous construction insurance carriers, as well as self-insureds, in both state and federal courts in New Hampshire. He is a member of the Defense Research Institute, and the Federation of Insurance and Corporate Counsel. He is also the New Hampshire Editor of the Product Liability Desk Reference, 50-State Compendium, which is a summary of product liability laws in the United States and Business Torts, a 50 State Guide. Attorney Desmarais graduated summa cum laude from the University of Baltimore Law School Maryland in 1976, and from 1976 to 1977 served as a Law Clerk to the New Hampshire Superior Court. He has been active in numerous state and local bar association committees, including the New Hampshire Ethics Committee, and Cooperation with the Courts. He was instrumental in implementing the statewide mediation program in the 1990’s and currently serves as a court mediator, as do the other members of the firm.

SCOTT A. EWING

Scott has been practicing law in New Hampshire since 1986, concentrating in insurance defense, product liability, and workers’ compensation and employment law. He has tried cases before the United States District Court of New Hampshire, New Hampshire Superior and District Courts, and the New Hampshire Department of Labor. Attorney Ewing has been an active member of the New Hampshire Bar Association and chaired the Workers’ Compensation Section of the New Hampshire Bar Association. He also sits as a court appointed mediator with the New Hampshire Superior Court. Attorney Ewing received a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Rochester in Rochester, N.Y., and his J.D. from Catholic University School of Law in Washington, D.C., where he was a member of the law review.

David_Johnston
DAVID W. JOHNSTON
David has been practicing law since l992 and has tried many cases to verdict in both state and federal courts, representing both individuals and institutional clients in matters ranging from product liability actions to insurance coverage and commercial actions involving multi-million dollar claims. He has extensive experience briefing and arguing cases before the New Hampshire Supreme Court and is admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. In addition, he serves as a court appointed mediator with the New Hampshire Superior Court. Attorney Johnston is also a member of the Bar of Massachusetts, and has successfully defended clients in claims pending before Massachusetts’ administrative agencies and state courts. Attorney Johnston is a cum laude graduate of Boston College Law School and was an editor of the Boston College International and Comparative Law Review. Prior to law school he served as an officer in the United States Navy.

DEBRA L. MAYOTTE
Debra has been practicing law since 1990. She is a member of the New Hampshire Bar and the Massachusetts Bar. She is also admitted to the United States Supreme Court. She has tried cases before the New Hampshire Superior and District Courts, and is experienced in briefing and arguing cases before the New Hampshire Supreme Court. Attorney Mayotte concentrates her practice in insurance defense, insurance coverage and complex civil litigation. She is a graduate of the New England School of Law.

HEATHER G. SILVERSTEIN
Heather was admitted to the New Hampshire Bar in 1998. She is also a member of the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire. Attorney Silverstein received her B.S. from the University of Vermont, and graduated from University of Maine Law School in 2000. Her law practice includes civil litigation, insurance coverage and insurance defense.

EMILY M. DOHERTY
Emily is a member of the New Hampshire Bar Association. She is also admitted to the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire and a member of the New Hampshire Women's Bar Association. She served as a Judicial Law Clerk to the New Hampshire Superior Court from 2002 to 2004. Attorney Doherty received her B.A. from the University of New Hampshire, where she graduated summa cum laude. She received her J.D. from Quinnipiac University School of Law, where she graduated magna cum laude and was a member of law review.
